This session, presented jointly by DePauw University’s CFO and CIO, reflects on key insights and lessons learned from our recent ERP implementation. The session aims to provide a balanced perspective on the organizational, technical, and financial aspects of large-scale ERP projects in small colleges and universities. Some key topics will include aligning an ERP project with institutional priorities, emphasizing adoption of standardized practices, the critical partnership between IT, Finance, and other campus leadership, the value of comparing vendor products and approaches, strategies for building campus-wide buy-in, and the benefits of peer institution collaborations.

We will discuss both challenges and successes, offering practical advice for institutions at any stage of ERP implementation or optimization. By sharing insights from both the successes and learning moments in our experiences, we hope to encourage an essential and fruitful discussion amongst the session participants.
